New position rate


Measures the rate between the number of new positions and the total number of open positions. 



Calculation steps:

  1. choose time frame
  2. identify the total number of open positions
  3. identify the number of new positions
  4. divide the number of new positions by the total number of open positions


Some companies prefer to measure replacement rate. To find out the value for this metric you should replace the number of new positions with the number of replacement positions.


Relevant dimensions: overall company, by company levels, managerial and individual contributors, functional area, key jobs, department, job profile.
