Operational vs. strategic time spent


Measures the breakdown of time by percentage of hours spent on operational work and time spent on strategic work.



A quite difficult to track metric.

  1. define for each position in HR which are the activities considered as operational and which are considered strategic
  2. ask every employee how much time is spent (roughly) on each task
  3. make an overall statistic by adding hours for each category in a department total
  4. express the hours into percentages

It is a very good metric to use to build a case for automation ROI.
