Injury frequency rate

It measures the frequency occurrence of injuries. The frequency is calculated per 1.000.000 worked hours and usually includes only accidents resulted with at least 1 day of leave. The time frame used is one year.

Calculation steps:

  1. identify the number of accidents that resulted with at least 1 day of leave
  2. multiply the number of accidents with 1.000.000
  3. identify the number of worked hours
  4. identify the number of full time employees
  5. identify the number of hours worked by a full time employee
  6. multiply the number of employees by the number of hours
  7. divide the value obtained at point 2. and divided by the number of worked hours

It is advised to breakdown this metric on types of injuries and their causes. Also, compare it year by year and plot it in a time series to identify if there's a greater occurrence in different periods.
