Employee average overtime hours
It measures the average overtime hours per employee.
Calculation steps:
- identify the number of overtime hours in the chosen time frame
- identify the average number of employee in the time frame
- divide the number of overtime hours by the number of employees
The recommendations are to calculate this metric in two ways:
- dividing the overtime hours to the average number of employees regardless if they had overtime hours or not
- dividing the overtime hours to the employee population that had overtime hours
This is an important risk metric as it can identify:
- accidents and injuries risk for the fatigue employee population
- the need for headcount or better management of workload
